2019 New York Piano Society International YouTube Non-Professional Piano Contest

The first annual New York Piano Society International Piano Contest will be an online video contest open to non-professional pianists aged 20 and up. Winners are given the opportunity to perform as a soloist alongside our NYPS Performing Members in prestigious NYC concert halls such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center, and Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter, as part of our 2019-2020 season.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL PIANO CONTEST

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The first annual International Piano Competition will be held online with contestants posting their video submissions to youtube.com from November 1st to November 20th, 2019

  • New York Piano Society will invite three winners to perform in one of our five concerts in the 2019-2020 season

  • Contestants will be responsible for their own travel and housing in NYC. Practice facilities are available for rent at various NYC studios.

  • Foreign winners will need visas and will be responsible for securing them

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be aged 20 or over by November 1, 2019

  • Applicants may not have paid engagements to perform, teach, or compose piano music

  • Applicants must have employment in a non-musical field

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • All applications must be completed and submitted through the online application below

  • All applications are due by 11:59 EST on Wednesday, November 20, 2019

  • All applicants must submit a nonrefundable application fee of $75 US, payable through the online application system

  • Applications will include:

    • 10-20 minute video performance (must be unedited and recorded within 30 days of submission with time stamp)

    • Private Link to unlisted YouTube video performance

    • Proof of employment
